Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) – Industrial PCs

What is the main difference between an Industrial PC and a standard Office PC?
Industrial PCs (IPCs) are designed for use in harsh environments. While Office PCs are built for clean, climate-controlled rooms, IPCs offer protection against extreme temperatures, dust, moisture, vibrations, and electromagnetic interference (EMI). Furthermore, industrial-grade components are used to ensure 24/7 continuous operation.
Are the Industrial PCs designed to be fanless?Sind die Industrie-PCs lüfterlos (fanless) konzipiert?
Yes, many of our models utilize a passive cooling system via cooling fins on the housing. This offers the advantage that no dust is sucked into the interior and no moving parts can wear out. This significantly increases operational reliability and reduces maintenance efforts.
How long are the devices and spare parts available (Long-term availability)?
In industrial environments, long product lifecycles are crucial. We guarantee availability for our core products for 5 to 15 years. This ensures that you can operate your systems for decades without needing software adjustments due to hardware changes.
Which protection classes (e.g., IP65) are supported?
We offer various housing concepts: from standard DIN-rail PCs to fully encapsulated stainless steel systems with IP65/IP67 protection. The latter are fully protected against water jets and dust and can even be cleaned with high-pressure cleaners (ideal for the food industry).
Can the PCs be individually configured according to my requirements (BTO)?
Absolutely. Our "Build-to-Order" service allows you to tailor the processor, RAM, storage, and interfaces (e.g., additional COM ports, GLAN, or fieldbus cards) exactly to your specific application.
Do the Industrial PCs support operating systems like Windows 10 IoT or Linux?
Yes, our systems are certified for common operating systems. Windows 10/11 IoT Enterprise is particularly popular due to its long support period and control over updates. We also support various Linux distributions (e.g., Ubuntu, Debian).
How do the devices handle extreme temperatures?
Our "Wide Temperature" models are designed for an operating range from -40 °C to +85 °C. This is ensured through the use of special components and thermal simulations during the design process.
What mounting options are available?
We offer flexible mounting kits for various scenarios, including DIN-rail mounting for control cabinets, VESA mounts for monitors, wall-mounting brackets, or 19-inch rack inserts.
Do you offer support for the integration of fieldbus systems?
Yes, our IPCs can optionally be equipped with modules for common industrial protocols such as PROFINET, EtherCAT, CAN bus, or Modbus to ensure seamless communication with your machines and controllers (PLC).
What is the process in case of a repair (RMA)?
Should a device show a defect, we offer a structured RMA process. You can open a ticket via our online portal. Within the warranty period, we also offer options for advance replacement or pick-up-and-return services to keep your downtime as low as possible.
